FAQ on “color your own” canvases
-
what tools can I use to color?
a wide variety of options work on canvas. you can select from colored pencils, crayons, markers and paint. different tools will look and work differently as you color. you can also use a mix of different coloring tools to create texture and variance in the design.
you can also explore using mixed media on your canvas. for example, you could use glue to adhere gemstones, glitter, feathers and more.
if you choose to use paint, i suggest you work only with acrylic or oil base paint. while watercolor could be an option, it has the potential to damage the print and/or canvas so i do not suggest it.
if you choose to work with markers, please be aware that like paint you will need time in between working different areas to avoid smudging and bleeding color over into other areas.
-
why don’t you provide the coloring tools with the canvas?
as a part of the creative process, i want you to bring your own energy to all of the decisions you make in creating your custom mandala. in so doing, i believe all the more creatively inspiring and meaningful the process will be for you.
-
what are some of your favorite art tools?
there are many options for you to consider when you select how you want to color and add your own creative flair to the canvas. i have curated a list for you of products that i have liked and used. please note that i do not endorse or have an affiliation with these businesses. this list was curated at the request of customers who have requested my guidance and suggestions.

-
should i prime the canvas if using paint?
while priming is an option, it is not necessary. please note that if you do prime the canvas you may obscure the design and not be able to see it fully.
-
should i co-sign my "color your own" canvas?
absolutely! you have just collaborated with me on a work of art and that truly makes me so happy. my original design is so much more when you bring your own creativity to interpreting it.
-
what are mandalas?
in the simplest of terms, they are geometric drawings often with circular symmetry. there is a rich history in both buddhist and hindu thought, where mandalas have been used as focal points for meditation.
i do not subscribe to a religious component in my designs but rather look at them as creative expressions of energetic feelings.
-
why are mandalas powerful to the manifestation process?
i believe it is not the mandala itself that is the key, but rather the process of putting your own energy behind an intention while expressing yourself creatively in the art.
